Do you want to know all about root canal therapy? If so, you have come to the right blog. Today, our dentists, Dr. Tony Hatch & Dr. Shivi Gupta are happy to tell you all about the treatment so you can know more. The more you know about root canals, the less nervous you might feel in the dental chair. So, the steps of root canal treatment in San Diego, California, include:
Step No. 1: We will examine the tooth with dental X-rays and then will numb the tooth and surrounding gums with a local anesthetic. This will help you remain comfortable during the appointment. We will then surround the tooth with a rubber sheet to keep it dry and clean.
Step No. 2: We will make an opening in the surface of the tooth and will use very small instruments to remove the infected inner layers of the tooth, like the pulp. We will also use those same tools to clean and shape the inside of the tooth to make space for the filling.
Step No. 3: We will fill the tooth with gutta-percha after the tooth is shaped and cleaned. To ensure complete sealing, we will also place adhesive cement in the tooth. Finally, we will close the tooth opening with a temporary filling.
Step No. 4: We will protect the tooth and restore full function by placing a dental crown over the tooth.
